The house that occupies the Customliner site in Herndon Woods, Virginia.
Photo taken Summer, 2008.
A record of my efforts to find a house assembled inside the D.C. Armory during the 1955 Home Show. The house was later relocated to Herndon, Virginia.

Just wanted to let you know that your blog has been a great source of information on Herndon Woods for me, and I love your quest to determine the fate of the Customliner. I'm an architectural historian researching postwar prefabs in the Washington-area suburbs. Thank you!
So, it seems very little on the Internet goes away, and a post to this blog may be something of a futile exercise, but, anyway . . .
I so enjoyed reading all your blog entries. I do local history stuff in the town of Alliance, Ohio and am researching National Homes tonight. This was such a joy to read, even if the poor house had met its demise. Research works that way, I have found. You hope for the grail, but very often you just get the hint of where it may have been once.
The journey is also part of the experience. Thanks for sharing.
